The estate executor was certainly surprised by this ring that was among the contents under his purview. It is a mystery as to how a Soviet-Era ring may have come into his relatives’ possession! But, she did travel to Europe often and the style seems to have been one her favorite!
This ring is fashioned from .875 silver, the purity used by many the former Soviet Union, and other East European nations. The seating and bezel may have been made especially for this unusually shaped gemstone that tests as Nephrite on the Presidium II Gem Tester. The nephrite is approximately 1" long, 3/8" wide and 3/8" tall. The bezel is formed around the base of the gemstone and recently had a cleaning and maintenence by a professional jeweler. The base of the bezel is decorated with a braided border. The shank is a simple sterling silver band that tapers from 5.5mm to 3 3/4mm. This ring is US size 8.5.
