It is easy to see how this gemstone came to be called "Fuego del Mar", meaning "fire of the sea". It is literally aflame with color! Set in luxurious 18 karat yellow and white gold, the 3.71 carat cushion-shaped fire opal is claw prong set into a devinely reticulated basket of yellow gold. The gemstones are supported with a solid under gallery. And, with fire, there must be ice. In the halo and along the shoulders are .64 carats total weight of superior quality diamonds. The halo features round, brilliant-cut, natural yellow diamonds, with near colorless round, brilliant-cut and square-cut diamonds adding muscle to the staggered white gold shoulders that taper to an approximate 2.8 mm shank.
