This gemstone was originally called "Brazilian amethyst", but changed to Rose De France as a marketing technique to evoke the decadence and glamor associated with France. (Gem/Rock Auction website).
This truly bold 14 karat yellow gold ring features a 12.00 carat, oval-cut, faceted, genuine Rose De France that is bezel-set in a ’10 point crown’ design using 1.25 carats total weight marquise-cut purple amethysts, and one carat total weight of round, faceted, H-I color, I1 clarity diamonds in the navette-shaped "points". The tall, straight shoulders ease down to a reticulated basket-style midsection, before tapering to a 3.25mm ring shank. The ring is US size 4.75 and has an open gallery, indicating it could fit up to a size 5.5 finger.
