Description

What a fantastic example of mid-century jewelry representing the budding space programs and fervent ‘space race’ between the US and the USSR!

All weights, sizes, measurements, as well as the color or clarity of any gemstones or diamonds mentioned in the titles, descriptions, introductions, notes or anywhere in the auction catalog shall be considered "approximate" regardless of the inclusion of the word "approximate" any similar adjective.

This is a 14 karat yellow gold brooch/pin depicting a spaceship or rocket, such as Explorer 1 or Mercury Freedom 7. This 1" pin features 8 round, white, cultured pearls that range in size from 2mm to 4mm.  The details are superb!  The pin is fitted with an adorned accessory of the 8th pearl in a starlike frame. The pin has a locking "C" clasp closure and is believed to have been crafted in the late 1940’s to mid-1950’s. This is an estate item that is in very good condition, with only signs of wear typical of jewelry from its era.  Admin: C31995/21lhh
